Being a versatile software engineer, I am heavily dependent on open source tools to get my development through to production at minimum cost. The large community of developers and, frequently, their corporate backers, have made it easy to run a software shop using only free and open source technologies.

It’s Worth It

For the first time, however, I made the decision to buy an IDE that is touted to be one of the best web development applications around: Jetbrains Webstorm.  The past couple months has seen me using angularjs extensively and Webstorm provides a lot of nice features for developing javascript single-page applications.

They offer a free trial and then it’s $49 for a perpetual license with 1 year of support and updates.

After I get some more burn time, I’ll share some of my favorite features.
